Documenting business processes and preparing for ERP implementation

Vodovod d.o.o. is a public utility company responsible for water supply in the Zadar region. More specifically, theydeal with water distribution, testing the health safety of water, construction work related to water supply, and the execution of water connections. It employs around 150 staff and serves more than 40,000 users. The management of the Waterworks has decided to upgrade the existing information system to improve operations. The mentioned system would consolidate all data about individual users in one place, enable more efficient tracking and execution of work orders, and allow for more effective monitoring of work on the water supply network. In other words, it would facilitate reporting on key business indicators and the introduction of an employee reward system.

Our consultants have conducted in-depth analysis of business processes in the company Vodovod. Conversations were held with the heads of all organizational units, and documentation generated during operations was collected. The result of the project is a comprehensive document that contains a detailed description of the current way of working, as well as the documents and reports that arise during the course of business. Within the project results, a proposal for a new way of working supported by a unified information system has also been added. The description of the new way of working includes the processes that need to be computerized, with a detailed description of how to implement this, along with a detailed specification of the functionalities that the new information system must meet. The specification of the functionalities of the new information system is the basis for announcing a public tender for the supplier of information systems. By creating this document, the client has been provided with a clear insight into all activities and business processes occurring in their operations, and the computerization of the company in the future has been facilitated.
